CEO International Markets & Africa

Zipline

Caitlin Burton is the CEO of Zipline’s Global Business, where she leads the expansion of its AI-enabled logistics system across some of the world’s fastest-growing markets: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Over nearly a decade, she has helped scale Zipline from a single distribution center in Rwanda into a global technology company serving more than 50 million people and completing more than 3 million deliveries. By developing and operating a full-stack software and hardware solution in partnership with public and private sectors, Zipline represents the world’s largest deployment of physical AI—enabling faster, cheaper, more reliable, and zero-emissions supply chains that save time and lives. Caitlin has spent her career building and scaling technology-led businesses across emerging markets.

Before Zipline, she helped develop some of the world’s earliest digital financial products, working with telcos and banks to bring savings, credit, and insurance to tens of millions of households across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She later helped scale the pay-as-you-go solar model, launching and growing a solar energy enterprise across five countries before its acquisition by one of Europe’s largest utilities—marking the sector’s first successful exit in Africa.

Caitlin holds an MPA from Cornell University and a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
