Jean-Dominique Senard

A graduate of HEC and holder of a Master's degree in Law, Jean-Dominique Senard began his career in a range of financial and operational roles within the Total Group from 1979 to 1987, and then at Saint-Gobain from 1987 to 1996. From 1996 to 2001, he was Chief Financial Officer of the Pechiney Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee, later leading Pechiney's Primary Aluminium division until 2005. He joined Michelin in March 2005 as Chief Financial Officer, became a Managing Partner in 2007 and Managing General Partner in 2011, and served as Chairman of Michelin until May 2019. On 24 January 2019 he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Renault Group, and on 1 March 2019 took up the chairmanship of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance. In 2018 he co-authored, with Nicole Notat, an influential report on the company as an object of collective interest, which led to significant changes in French legislation (the PACTE law). In 2023 he co-authored 'Re-considering Work', and in February 2026 co-chaired the Institut Montaigne report 'Responsibility: A Plea for Action'. Lead Director of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain until 2024, he is now Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Fives Group and a director of the La Montagne-Centre France press group. He is a Commander of the Legion of Honour.
