Jürgen Eckel

Jürgen Eckel has been Executive Vice President, Head of Strategy & Innovation and a member of the Executive Committee at Airbus Defence and Space since 4 May 2026. A seasoned tech entrepreneur and expert in venture building, Jürgen brings over 20 years of experience in developing digital businesses and scaling technological innovation across complex, regulated industries. Prior to his current role at Airbus, he led BCG X (Boston Consulting Group's tech build and design unit) for the London, Amsterdam and Brussels (LAB) region, with a particular focus on regulated sectors. During his tenure, he worked with Airbus Defence and Space to build and operationalise a leading geospatial data platform, serving on the company's board for several years. Jürgen is recognised in AI, innovation strategy and digital ecosystems, having spearheaded the integration of advanced AI solutions within complex corporate environments. He holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Passau and a Certificate in Technology Management from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
